Welcome to Chair Yoga series, offered periodically to supplement classes offered through the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, with the option to join in person at Magi’s home studio in NoPa. In this series, you will learn the foundations of yoga through the Iyengar Yoga method, with the use of a yoga chair. Mobility of being able to sit and stand with relative ease is required, as some standing postures are taught. Learn and experience how yoga will help you find strength, balance, stability, and flexibility. Some yoga experience will be helpful.
The studio is located on the 2nd floor. Classes will be recorded with indicated interest, for the purpose of continuing your own practice at home. If you miss a class you’d signed up for, a class recording will be sent.
REGISTRATION
Online participants:
Please have these yoga props: a yoga mat, sturdy chair, 2 yoga blocks, yoga strap, and a firmly folded blanket. Some of these props can be substituted with items found around the house. If possible, set yourself with your back to a wall. Your device, preferably a laptop, is best set up about 8 feet away. This allows me to see you from head to toe, from which I can better offer improvements or modifications to the postures. Connecting your laptop to a larger screen (e.g., a smart TV or larger desktop computer monitor) greatly improves your viewing.
For in-person attendees, please wear comfortable clothing. Mats and other props are provided; you are welcome to bring your own mat. The exact address will be sent upon registration and payment, via Google Calendar emails sent a few days to a week before class starts. The studio is on Fulton Street, between Ashbury and Clayton, where parking may be challenging depending on events at USF. Doors will open 15 minutes before class time.
